At St. John, our primary goal is to be Christ’s hands and feet both locally, and in the greater community. We believe that we are gathered together as church to be sent out into the world. We strive to be out in the world helping others in whatever way we can. God has blessed us with much and we use those blessing to spread the love of Christ.
Mission trips
We have a long history of going on mission trips to serve those in need. In the past we have sent groups all the way to Jamaica! We also have done multiple trips to Kansas City and completed numerous projects enriching the lives of others. Our Youth Group has gone to places such as Texas, South Carolina, and Colorado. We also have a strong history of serving those around us locally. We have assisted with homeless minisitry in Sioux Falls through the Banquet. We also regularly support and volunteer at the Bread of Life food pantry in George. |
Missionary Support
We support a number of missionaries financially and with our prayers. Recently we have sponsored missionaries serving in Belize, India, Madagascar, Papa New Guinea, China, Romania, Vanuatu, and the Camen Islands. Each fall we hold a mission festival where we invite a speaker to come and tell us more about the mission work they are doing. We strive to stay aware of what God is doing elsewhere and give support however we can to ensure that all corners of the globe hear the good news. We also support ministries such as Lutheran World Relief and NALC Disaster Response by collecting items of need at the church. |
